Date Night + Younique 3D Fiber Lashes

easiest application EVER

truly an awful picture but it's all we've got :)

Saturday night was our first date night since Mr. Matthew made his debut.  It was much needed!  We attended the Lowe Cape Fear Hospice Last Chance for White Pants Gala.  My sissy works for Hospice and helped with the event and she is good at what she does, I tell you what!  The chair, co-chair and committee all worked so hard and it was a beautiful event for an even more beautiful cause.

While getting ready I had the privilege of trying out Younique's new 3D Fiber Lashes and I. Am. Obsessed.  They were SO EASY to apply (literally just like mascara) and added so much volume + length to my lashes.  I've always had decently long lashes but lately I have felt like they are becoming so thin!  I have tried coconut oil on them at night but never really give it long enough to see results.  Well, you don't have to wait for results with the 3D Fiber Lashes!  And it comes right off like mascara.  This tired mama needs all the help she can get and I will be a lifetime user of these bad boys.  Thanks so much to my friend Kim for letting me try them.  You can order them here and I promise you will fall in love too!

my dream date

Monday, August 4, 2014

since having g OVER a year ago (still can't believe that!) date nights are not as common as they used to be.  matt and i still have "us" time every night when she goes down.  and i love that time.  we talk, watch jeopardy, whip up something delicious... but out-of-the-house date nights are a little more rare.  a few months ago we started a "thing" where every month one of us plans a special date.  we alternate months and june was my month (x-men movie planned for matthew and a sushi din din!) and july was matt's.  Well we may have been a few days late, but boy did he plan a date!  we went to see the little mermaid on Broadway in raleigh yall!  it was perfection.  and we saw the 2pm matinee which was also favorited by all of the 6 year old girls in north carolina.  i felt right at home.  truly.  and then!  then!  we went to my fave mexican restaurant.  well done baby daddy, well done.  guess it's my turn to plan a spectacular date again!

and a special thanks to my trusty Iphone for snapping some moments from this wonderful date!

and on a totally random note - but sweet in-laws got G a bike seat for our bike for her birthday!  which is perfect because we are big bike people.  anyone have any recommendations for a good toddler/baby helmet?  want to buy one asap!

** lots of G's birthday shenanigans coming up later this week on the blog!  **

my birthweek is here!

my celebratory birthday/engagement dinner the next night!

4 years ago today I was celebrating my last day as a 23 year old.  I was currently in the midst of getting my masters and had a majorrrrrrrrrr exam the next day (on my birthday!  How could they?!?!).  I was nannying for the sweetest baby boy all day (it was a Wednesday) and I wore my comfiest, non-cutest outfit to play with said babe and study all day.  Then around 6pm I headed back to my wee little one bedroom apartment.  My boyfriend at the time was going to bring me dinner because he knew I had a long day and still needed to study so when I got home you can imagine my surprise when he was already there!  AND he had cleaned my apartment top to bottom (cleaning could possibly my love language)!  AND! AND he had made my fave dinner ever – seared tuna, spinach salad, some sort of carb.  So sweet!  He said he wanted to do something sweet since I had an exam on my birthday.  Sigh.  He’s the best.   But before dinner he said wait!  You must open your birthday cards since tomorrow you will be in study and test mode all day.  You don’t have to twist my arm or anything, because I’m a HUGE card fan.  I usually get everyone 2-3 cards per special occasion.  No one says it quite like Hallmark if you as me.  I digress.  So I opened the first card and alas!  It sent me on a scavenger hunt around my 5x5 apartment to yet another card, and then yet another!  When finally I found my last car (it was the sappiest of them all – obviously I ate it up) and as I neared the bottom of the card I was instructed to close my eyes for my birthday surprise!  When I looked up, said boyfriend was down on one knee holding a sparkler for my little ring finger.  The rest is kinda a blur but I SAID YES!  Even in my non-cuteness outfit and delirious study stooper, I was the happiest of happiest girls.  The rest of the evening was spent staring at my ring finger and calling important people.  No more studying for me.

So yay!  So glad that tall, handsome man asked me to marry him.  And so glad we did get married.  And then we had a baby.  And that’s been the best decision we ever made.  So this year, I am soooo excited to celebrate with my wee family of 3 (ok 4 including Sevilla).  Because as if I thought my birthweek could not get any better than that week 4 years ago, every year proves me wrong.

Thankful for my people.

a 30th birthday in pinehurst

Monday, November 18, 2013

A few weeks ago - October 13th to be exact - my sweet, handsome, huz turned the big 3-0.  So we headed to Pinehurst, NC for the weekend to celebrate with the other birthday boy of the weekend - Matt's twin brother, Brian.  Pinehurst, twins and wives boast an all-you-can-dream-of weekend for these two.  We played some golf (well they played golf), ate some, drank some, watched some football and just had fun.  Here are few pictures from Pinehurst # 2 Course.

two nights before our wedding!
how is already friday?  seriously.  this week has flown by!  and last night kicked off a multiple-night celebration of my sweet hubby's 30th birthday (i truly believe more in birthmonths instead of birthdays).  so babe - i love you more today at almost 30 than i did when we got married when you were just a sweet, young 26 year-old.  you're my best friend, my support, my everything.  thank you.  thank you for not only loving me but for the way you love me.  and oh, the way you love our baby girl.  melts my heart.  i love you and can't wait to continue our celebrations this weekend!

hope y'all have a great weekend too!  xox
