just say no

Having more time on my hands before the baby has been so refreshing.  I have been able to get so much accomplished before Georgia arrives but I have also given myself permission to sit and be still.  To enjoy lunch and long coffee dates with friends.  And it makes me think.  I saw this quote on dear ole Pinterest and it pierced my heart.  Especially with a babe on the way, and thinking about who she will be surrounded by.

As a self-professed people-pleaser it is so easy for me to say yes to everything and everyone.  Especially because I have no excuse now!  I mean, I'm off work for a month before my baby comes (thank you teacher schedule), so what else do I have to do?  The truth is, sometimes nothing.  But the older I get the more I am aware of the company I keep.  I have said it before and I will say it again - I have been incredibly blessed by loving and supportive friends and family.  So those are the people I will say yes to.  And if you are in my shoes and like to please people (or hate to say no), I encourage you to start saying no.  Say no to things that stress you out.  Say no to people that stress you out.  Say no to people that bring you down.  Because life is too short.  So surround yourself with people who know you inside and out and still love you.

Happy Tuesday.

Great reminder--this is my second week off and I've had something planned everyday between volunteering with my husband's unit and going to baby related classes! Not scheduling ANYthing else!!

AMEN! i always felt like i owed everybody a "yes." and, i mean, i had fun saying yes to everything, haha! but it was totally pregnancy that taught me how to say no because i realized how much i didn't want stress in my body with my little babe, and suddenly i had a reason to prioritize my needs... and it has been amazing for me to realize that it's okay to say no! and seriously. after you have a baby, i this is vital for both mama and baby. especially since other people mean well but no one quite understands what having a newborn is like unless they're currently in the situation, so it's okay to put your foot down or say no and not feel a dot of guilt about it! xoxoxoxo gigi time soon!!!!

This was definitely for me!!!! Especially today!!! I stress myself out ALL the time trying to please everyone else and make everyone happy and I'm just making myself miserable and I'm TIRED of it!!!! I wanna be nice...but people aren't used to me telling how I feel or just saying "No!!" That's my weakness. I actually just had something come up this morning where I just had to tell what I wanted because it was the best for us. I'm so tired of people doing whatever they wanna do and taking advantage. Can't you tell this topic just hit the spot?! lol It's nice to know it's not just me that feels like this.

Thanks for sharing!! I might have to copy that quote and use it.

Hope your doing well!!! Enjoy this time you have before your little one gets here. ;)
