The Mint Julep Review // Fashion Post

Beauty Counter Business Venture and GIVEAWAY

So I have some exciting news friends!  While I have not been as attentive to my beloved blog here, it is for good reason!  I have decided to join the Beauty Counter team and help women and babies get safe, healthy products that actually work into their homes.  These products are amazing y'all and they are safe.  Time after time I have gone to Ulta or Sephora in search of good skincare with safe ingredients and unfortunately, I felt that most of the natural products didn't work.  They didn't clear my skin, they didn't prevent aging and they sure didn't soften my crows feet!  Then I tried Beauty Counter and honestly, I'm in love.  My skin is clearer, more even-toned and brighter.  Matt even noticed something was different!  

They even have a Kid's Collection!  Georgia loves it and I love not worrying about what is going on her precious skin.  Beauty Counter has recently launched their anti-aging line (my new obsession is the Enlightening Treatment Pads) and their face oils are to die for.  Face Oil is something I'm somewhat new to (I've been using oils for about 6 months) and I have really loved the results.  I find that I wake up with plumper, brighter and more even skin.  My personal favorite is the The Lustro Face Oil 3! Beauty Counter is also coming out with a makeup line later this year and I'm not sure how I can wait any longer!

Hey guys!  I'm Leanne, from Being Jane.  This has been an amazing, fun year! I started blogging because I was lonely, honestly. I was in the middle of starting an Etsy business and I got involved with some social media outlets and noticed a lot of people also blogged. The idea of building a community of friends like me got me so excited I couldn't wait to get going! I was very impatient and wanted everything to flourish right away. 

    

 My first blogging name was the name of my business, "Top This by Leanne". That name gained a lot of followers and I had a wonderful time interacting with all of you! I got so sick with my pregnancy in 2013 that I took a break until I could focus on my blog more. When I came back after a couple of months I had decided not to continue my crocheting business because I just didn't have the time. Between school, work, motherhood, wifeyhood, and being a human being, there wasn't time to work on lengthy projects. I could barely write a blog post! I then decided that since my business was no longer, I should change my blog name so that it had a meaning. I went with "Sock Monkey Momma". Initially I adored it and thought it encompassed everything I was and wrote about. 

     

As time went on I realized it didn't have the class that I wanted to emanate from my blog. It didn't sound versatile enough to last me years and years, and to reach a variety of people like I intended to. Yes, I am a mother, but I hope to be even more than that in my daily life and blog voice. 

     

Hence, "Being Jane" was born. I think I am happy now! I have a huge passion for Jane Austen novels/films and thoroughly enjoy any book or movie from that time period. I mean, my girls are named Emma Jane and Audrey Elizabeth. Just last week I noticed that their middle names are the two eldest daughters in Pride and Prejudice, and they have their coloring! This was done partially on purpose, but I didn't have any control over their coloring ;)

#SeasonsEatings: Pin to win with Harris Teeter + Puppy Chow Recipe + GIVEAWAY

This time of year it's so hard to get me out of the kitchen.  That's not to say I'm an excellent cook or anything.  I just love it.  I love the smells, the sounds and the mess that typically come from a well-loved kitchen around the holidays.

One of my favorite things to make every Christmas is the always yummy "puppy chow mix," however - I like to add a little Christmas spin on it and I call it reindeer food!  My best friend always brings it to our Christmas exchange and it won't last 5 minutes before it's gobbled up.  It's so easy to make, so yummy to eat and so pretty to look at!  It looks like reindeer food set out in the snow.  Put it in a mason jar with a cute sticker - and viola!  Christmas in a jar.  I made one of these for each of my neighbors this year and the children loved it (as did the adults!).  I also plan to make this every year with Georgia to leave out with Santa's cookies (Rudolph needs love too!).  Annnnnd I like to put my own little twist on the recipe.  Instead of 1/2 a cup of peanut butter, I use 1/4 cup of peanut butter and 1/4 cup of Nutella, because Nutella just makes everything better don't ya think?  Here is the skinny on the recipe:

Ingredients:

9 cups Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex or Chocolate Chex (or any combo of these)

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup Nutella

1/4 cup butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter, Nutella and butter on HIGH for about a minute.  Stir until smooth.  If needed, microwave on HIGH for another 30 seconds.  Stir in Vanilla.  In a large bowl, stir in mixture with Chex.  Next, pour Chex in to a 2 gallon Ziploc bag (a large tupperware will work too!).  Pour powdered sugar over Chex.  Seal tightly and SHAKE!  Enjoy :)

YAY YAY IT'S FRIDAY!  In honor of our breastfeeding combo pack winner, I thought I would share some of my favorite Pinterest inspirations.  Because that's what I looooove to do during my 3 am pump sessions.  I sleepily search Pinterest for encouraging quotes or verses on pretty backgrounds.  That way as I stumble pack to bed, I'm left feeling motivated and hopefully can will some good dreams.  It's the little things in life right now that I will look back and miss and definitely laugh at - like my inspiration-seeking 3am, pumping self.  So I thought I'd share last nights' findings.  Enjoy!  We all need a little pep in our step right?  Annnnnnd the winner for the Mrs. Patel's giveaway is below!
