my 2 year old!

Thursday, August 6, 2015

A week ago the baby that made me a mommy turn TWO!  I don't know where time goes, honestly.  There was no big shindig this year but I made SURE my little lady felt special.  She had one request this year - a Big Bird cake.  Considering she didn't even have a sugar cake last year I felt it only necessary to get her very own 8 inch Big Bird cake.  She didn't leave much for the rest of us (likely we had cupcakes too!).  We celebrated at home on Thursday night (the birthday night) and then headed to my parents' house Saturday for more spoiling and more celebrating.  Sunday night my in-laws stopped by for even more birthday surprises.  Spoiled rotten and loved unconditionally... I'd say it was a good birthday!

**PS - I appologize for the quality of these iPhone photos but a 2 week old + sleepy mama = I tried my best ok?

fourth fun

This weekend was a one of those that I wish so bad I could go back to.  Matt was off on Friday and I can't tell you how much Georgia and I loved having him all to ourselves for 3 whole days.  His twin brother and his wife came in town, who also happen to be Gigi's godparents, and we even got an adult-only dinner in there!  Possibly the last for awhile, but nonetheless, it was so nice.  We frolicked on the beach with friends Friday, watched Georgia (dressed as a sailor girl) and my parents (dressed as Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam) ride in our neighborhood parade Saturday morning then headed to the pool with family for some more sun.  To say my little lady was on cloud 9 this weekend is the understatement of the century.  She absolutely adores her aunts and uncles and especially her cousins and I love celebrating with them all.  Sunday we had lunch at my in-laws and a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Oh and we are still on Baby Watch over here.  I turned 39 weeks on Saturday and truthfully I really thought my little man would be here by now.  But hey!  He's comfy I suppose.  But no really... Matthew you can come out now.  Everyone's ready for you.

Hope y'all had a great July 4th!  So thankful for this country we live in.

Over the weekend some dear friends threw sweet baby Matthew a "sprinkle" and it was the best morning ever.  I am so thankful for the friends and family in my life who not only love me, but love my children the way they do.  It's truly humbling and I couldn't be more excited to meet my little man.  Now!  Off to pack a hospital bag, wash some baby clothes and vacuum or something.... 36 weeks Saturday!

Mother's Day 2015

such a tomboy.  always a ball in her hand

gigi and daddy's herb and vegetable garden has taken off!  we even used the spinach for a smoothie the other day

My mother's day was perfect this year.  My sweet hubby planned a slew of my favorite events that all needed bright and sunny weather (strawberry picking, picnic in the park, beach) but then we got hit by a tropical storm.  So none of those outdoorsy things happened, but you know what did happen?  Snuggles, kisses, family time, laughs and a pedicure with my mama.  I'd say that's a win!  And we snuck outside for a few pictures after brunch.

hope all you mamas and mamas to be out there felt loved, appreciated and special.  and to all you women who want so badly to be a mama but aren't, or to those who miss their children in heaven, or to anyone who misses their own mama or doesn't have a relationship with their own mama.  i woke up with you on my heart and i prayed for you.  and i continue to pray for you.  god is good even in hard times and whatever your story, know He has never left your side.  He holds you in the darkest and the brightest of times.  still praying for you.
