*************************************************************************************

Names: Donnie & Bethany  (Owners)

Hometown:
D: Wilmington, NC
B: Durham, NC

Current Town:
B: We love calling Wilmington home!

How did you two love birds meet?
B: We had both recently graduated from UNCW but our paths had (somehow) never crossed.  Donnie randomly moved into an apartment on Wrightsville Beach with some of my closest guy friends from Durham. We met at one of their beach cookouts and became friends over the summer.  I wasn’t looking for the love of my life at the time, but when I met Donnie that ALL changed!  I was quickly smitten and the rest is history.

3 words that your family would use to describe you:
D: Kind-hearted, focused, and passionate (answered by Bethany J)
B: HUGE heart, beautiful inside & out, nurturing (answered by Donnie J)

Boy or girl, what are your guesses?
D: Sweet little girl so I can go and buy that tutu I saw on our first baby shopping trip.
B: I go back and forth every day!  Definitely thinking boy more than girl.  I can’t wait until I hear those words on delivery day!

What is one thing you are most excited about becoming a parent?
D: All the baby laughs! This baby is sure to fill our home with lots of laughter.
B: The feeling of being a mommy. The thing I’m most excited about doing is rocking my babe to sleep and just savoring that moment.

What is one prayer/hope you have for Baby B?
D: There is nothing I could want more than a healthy happy baby.
B: That they’re like their daddy!

How did XOve Baby come to life?
D: It has always been a desire of mine and Bethany’s to do more and help others. We are passionate about knowing that everything happens for a reason and knew the perfect opportunity was right in front of us when we dreamed up XOve Baby.

With her experience working as a Nanny and true love for babies, combined with my passion for business, we knew we wanted to make our job helping children.

Unfortunately, not every child is brought into this world under perfect conditions, and this is all out of their control. It is for these reasons that we feel strongly about helping children feel a sense of comfort through our products.

Where is the name from?
B: I moved away for work for 6 months right when Donnie and I got engaged.  Between planning a wedding and the distance, we covered a lot of texts and emails.  Our exchanges either always ended with a ‘love you’ or a ‘XO’.  Eventually that evolved into XOve.  It embodies what we had always envisioned our company being about.

Why give back?
B: Giving back wasn’t an afterthought for us; it was one of our first thoughts.  It’s what we wanted to build a company around.  At the end of the day, if we’re not doing something to really help others- why do it?

What inspires you and fires you up?
D: Knowing that with every new day comes an opportunity to meet new people, influence the lives of others, and learn something we didn’t know the day before.

When you aren’t filling orders and giving to those in need what are you doing?
D: Bethany and I are both currently working full-time jobs outside of XOve Baby so that does take up most of our “free time”. However, I do enjoy to play golf, surf, swim in the pool, or hang out in Starbucks with my iPad and a nice tall coffee in hand!
B: Getting ready for Baby B and living up our 2-person family status while we can!  We’ve been trying to fit in impromptu dates- whether it’s jumping in the car for a day getaway, a dinner out, or just going to the beach without having to pack the whole house! We’re trying to do things now that we may not be able to do for a while.

What is one goal for XOve Baby?
D: One goal for our company is to build a community around what we do for others through the business. The quality of the products that we make for each and every baby is very important to us, but the support and influence of each new member of our community is priceless.

The Mint Julep Review // Fashion Post

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Jumpsuit  //  Sunglasses  //  Wedges (Old ShoeMint)  //  Earrings (Old JewelMint but love these)  //  Bracelet (Old JCrew but love this one)  //  Long Necklace (Old but love this one on sale!)

I am in love with this jumpsuit.  It has become my-go to for running around with Georgia and an easy-transition into date night with Matt.  I love that I can brighten it up with some funky jewels or through a jean jacket over top of it this fall.  The Mint Julep has been one of my newest addictions.  Not only do they have a massive selection of fun and versatile pieces, but they are affordable!  And yall know I don't love spending too much moola on clothes because, well, babies make messes ya know.  I'm been eyeing this cardi and am pretty sure this tank needs to be a staple in my closet.  And guess what?  Tomorrow we are giving away a $25 giftcard to The Mint Julep Boutique so come back and sign up yall!  Winner will be announced a week from Wednesday!

Jeff Gordon Review - Malibu

Thursday, August 21, 2014

Happy Thursday!

I’m excited to continue with my Jeff Gordon Car Reviews today as I talk about my weekend with the Malibu!  If you missed my review on the Equinox you can find that here.  And as always you can check out all available Chevrolet cars at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet or online here.

Type of car: Small Sedan

Price Range of car: The average paid for this car is $22,000 - $29,000 and that is according to US News.

How does it drive:  This car is a good ride for sure.  It drove smooth and was so easy to navigate.  It is a compact car so my sister-in-laws and I took it shopping one day to test it out.  It was very easy to pull in and out of small parking spaces and drive through those tiny streets of shopping centers.  It was also pouring down rain and I will say the car felt safe even during the downpour.

Safety Review:   I have no doubt in my mind that I was safe while driving this car.  It has all-over airbags and a superb safety rating by the USN.  With that said, it is a small car.  And I think I may have a complex or something, but I’m just not going to feel as safe in a small sedan as I am in a big SUV.  Is anyone?  But, again I never felt unsafe in any way and this car is much easier to navigate than a big ole SUV that’s for sure!  Like I said I chose to drive it around Myrtle Beach and on highways in hurricane-like weather and it never lost traction or made me feel out of control.  I attribute some of that to the traction control (I talked about that in the Equinox as well) and I am convinced all of my cars from now on must have this! Overall, this car is safe and I would pack up my family in it in a heartbeat.

Interior Review:   The interior is perfectly comfortable and the girls and I had no problem getting in and out and packing in our Anthropologie bags.  My mom has a Malibu for her job because she travels so much and I know she raves about the comfort.  She spends a lot of time in hers and a lot of miles on the road and she is always saying how easy it is to drive.  However, I have to give the opinion of my husband as well.  He drove it back from Myrtle Beach and well, he was a little uncomfortable.  He is 6’4’’ and he was uncomfortable in my old Lexus SUV too – I mean my man’s got some long legs, ya know?  So if you are a tall man or woman, say over 6’2’’ I’m sure you would agree that maybe a car with a bit more leg room is a better fit for you.  Other than that, comfort is your friend here!  Another amazing feature to mention: IT HAS WIFI!  Yes, you heard me right.  This car has WiFi so when using my maps on my phone I didn't have to use my data via 3G.  It also makes it nice for passengers to search their phone without using data.  Amazing my friends.  Truly amazing.

Trunk/Back Compartment Review:  The back compartment is pretty standard to that of a small sedan.  The guys could fit two sets of golf clubs in the trunk with no problem at all.  It also has the grocery net and I’m not sure why, but I just love those things!

Exterior Review:  I love the cute little look of these Malibu’s.  I think my mama looks so chic driving around in hers.  I loved the color of the one I drove as well.  The blue shines in the sun and makes me feel oh so fancy J

Specials: (This section will stay the same most months – unless there is a specific special they are running for the time-being!) One thing I love about Jeff Gordon is the service guarantee that comes standard with cars purchased or leased that are an eligible, new 2014 Chevrolet, Buick or GMC car, truck or crossover in the U.S.   The car is covered by a new maintenance program that includes certain scheduled services for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first.  Here’s the link to all the jazz for your further reading J   http://www.chevrolet.com/comprehensive-coverage.html

From me to you:  Total honesty friends.  I really like this car.  I felt comfortable in it, totally safe and it was so easy for me to drive around town.  Is it the right car for our family?  No.  Matt was uncomfortable driving a smaller car and if we had Georgia and Sevilla with us, things would have been a bit cramped.  Who is this car right for?  I would say this car is perfect for someone who does a lot of traveling (the gas mileage is AMAZINGGGGGGGG), a single adult or a couple looking for a small, economical, but nice car.  If you have kids in college who you visit a lot?  This car would make perfect sense!

Any one have any experience with a Malibu?  What other small sedans do yall like?

xove baby review

Thursday, August 7, 2014

disclaimer:
getting 3 babies to sit still on the couch for more than half a second is serious yall.... but we tried :)

When I find a brand that I love, you can pretty much count me as a fan for life.  Anytime that brand is local? Fist pump please!  Anytime that brand also gives back?!  Double fist pump.  And today, I get to share a brand that does all of the above - XOve Baby.  It has become my go-to for baby shower gifts with their adorable onesies and baby blankets.  The onesies are soft enough (made with 100% organic cotton) for the newest baby skin but sturdy enough for serious play dates (as proved above!).  Their blankets are perfect for swaddling or cuddling.  We are transitioning G out of the sleep sack during her naps and at night and this blanket is the only one I trust with the job.  It's soft and still breathable and G loves curling up in her crib or on the couch with it.  There are three designs currently and I'm planning on stocking G with all of them.  Check them out below and get your shop on!

*** side note - while the largest size currently offered is 9-12 months it fits G perfectly!  They have some stretch which is nice so you can get a lot of wear out of them.  Tripp is modeling the Signature Print above in a 3-6 month size and he is 8 months!  Like I said, the onesies have stretch and are a great staple for a baby wardrobe because they really can continue to wear them for months and months.  Miss Anna Davis is modeling the Pearl Print in a 6-9 months.

thank you to my adorable models Tripp (8 months), Anna Davis (7 months) and Georgia (1 year)
