We are having a baby BOY!

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Last Thursday morning, Matt and I got up bright and early and headed to the doctor!  Georgia was so distracted and excited that her Nanny and Pop Pop were taking her to preschool that she had no idea what a big morning it was.  First and foremost, we are beyond grateful to say that there is a healthy baby in my belly right now!  And then the kind nurse immediately found our baby's....... MAN PARTS!  We are having a tiny, wiggle worm, cuddly, lovable baby BOY.  I'm still kind of in shock.  Matt immediately started crying, which made me tear up.  I mean a boy?!?!  We were both kind fo expecting a girl because well, that's what we know!  But to say we are excited is the understatement of the century.  So baby boy here I come.  Luckily I've got 4 nephews that have given me practice over the years but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.  Oh but I love that little man so very much already!

So yay!  A crazy, rambunctious toddler girl and now a tiny, baby boy!  So fun.  On the name front we are still deciding... And naturally, the next day, Georgia, my mom and I ran to Target to get a blue bean bag that matches Georgia's pink one for the play room.  So like any good big sis, Gigi broke it in a little :)

thankful my baby girl is better!

** above pictures from a much better baby girl this week  **

last week was rough y'all.  like real rough.  g was the sickest she has EVER been in her life and it rocked this mama's world - emotionally and physically.  she had a fever (103.5!) for a few days, some tummy issues - oh and a lovely rash broke out just as i thought she was getting better!  and sleep?  yea there was none.  for anyone involved.  but the strangest thing happen.  in the midst of the midnight tears (from my sick babe and from yours truly) i would look down at my precious angel and be reminded of how blessed i was.  undeservingly so.  i get to be her mom.  i get to comfort her when she's sick.  and when she's really sick i get to put her in bed with me and rub her back for hours on end.  i get to do that y'all.  and i pray i never take that for granted.

parenting is hard.  the hardest thing i've ever done.  and you veteran mamas and daddys out there are probably thinking that i don't know the least of it.  and you're right.  i don't.  and i know it gets harder.  but it gets richer too.

so this week we attempted to catch up on sleep, scrubbed the germs off of every surface in our house and try to establish better sleep habits... again.  i still think about last week.  and how hard it was.  how sad it was (seeing your baby sick pains you in ways you never thought possible, which then breaks for my heart for parents out there who continually see their child sick - i'm praying for yall, hard).  but i'm thankful for those cuddles i stole last week.  those mornings waking up to my baby girl.  and i'm thankful she's all better.  and that we can run and play this weekend.

happy friday friends - spend time on what matters this weekend!

on the morning of my baby's 1st birthday, she decided to sleep until 8:30!  of course!  the one morning i am up and pacing for her to wake up!  but finally my little bundle of sweet joy woke up and her daddy and i went in to get her.  she was still such a sleepy head so we stole some cuddles and let her try on her birthday hat.  then daddy went to work and G and i headed to her very last Kindermusik class!  after spending the morning with her friends, we came home for a nap and awaiting the arrival of her nana, g-daddy, nanny and pop pop.  then we celebrated the night away with pizza and "cake" (i made a cake out of banana bread and applesauce.... so i feel dishonest using the word cake! ha).  and it was the most perfect way to celebrate georgia's birth.  after baby went to bed and grandparents headed home, my baby daddy and i toasted each other to make it through one year of parenting.  go us!  and yay for a perfect day!

can't wait to share her birthday party pictures with yall next week!

i still can't believe my baby girl is one year old (well... one year and one week exactly!).  We had the best time celebrating that little ray of sunshine last week and I can't wait to share pictures with y'all.  But until then here is a little about my baby lady at one year old!

Weight: G goes to the doctor tomorrow afternoon so stay tuned... (also prayers are welcomed!  we get LOTS of shots :( !!!!)

Health: She’s still a healthy lady praise the Lord.

Sleep: Yay yay!  Sleep is still a good thing at our house.  G goes down anywhere between 8 and 8:30 and sleeps until 6, takes a bottle, and goes back to sleep until 7:30 or 8.  I know I should probably drop that bottle at 6 ASAP so maybe I will tackle that next week, along with taking her bottle away (sheeeeesh turning 1 is hard stuff!).

Social: This month she had her last month of Kindermusik with her friends, finished swim lessons and had lots and lots of play dates.  She loves being around other babies and toddlers and I’m so excited for her to start "Preschool" in September.  I think she’ll love all of the playtime with friends.

Diet: She’s eating anything and everything she can get her hands on!  She is picky at times, but really I think she’s just too busy to slow down and eat.  We are doing great with solids and have introduced whole milk in her bottle.  Still haven’t tried Peanut Butter yet but I’m dying too.  So maybe next week?!

Clothes: She can wear 12 months and 18 months (those are little big).  So we are in between I suppose?

Baby Gear Love: I mean I died over the cupcake Honest Diapers this month!  I still love my Beaba BabyFood Maker – even though I’m not pureeing anything for G anymore, I use it to steam her fruits and veggies to make them soft enough for her to eat.  We also get good use out of these reusable pouches and I fill it with blueberry applesauce for when we are on the go.

Crying: She’s a pretty happy baby unless she’s tired, bored or hungry!

Likes:  Sevilla.  Duh.  She loves her new piano and anything music related.  She loves the pool, reading books, going on walks and bubbles – bubbles are kindaaaaa amazing these days!

not happy about crib pictures....

Dislikes: Now that she’s crawling a thousand miles a minute and starting to stand up and take steps (1-2 at most until she plops down!), she is not a happy lady if I pick her up when she is headed somewhere.  I mean she’s got places to be ya know?!  On the other side of that if she wants to be held she will let. You. Know. Period.  And she still hates the vacuum.

Postpartum:  Still feeling good, still need to start exercising! EEEEEEEK

Milestones: She’s close to walking for sure but not there yet.  She takes a few steps here and there but then plops down and crawls way faster than most people can run.  She’s babbling away.  Her newest “word” is “nana” and she is constantly saying “mama” now which melts my heart :)

11 months! Holy Cow!

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

Happy 11 months Georgia Grace (well 11 months and 2 days)!  We love you so much and mama has officially turned to mush.  I plan to stay that way throughout the month of July and savor every last second of your first year.  Kisses!

**side note: pictures are becoming increasingly more difficult to take.  she no longer sits still (ha!) and bow-wearing has also become a thing of the past.  unless i can momentarily rig one up pebbles style to where she doesn't notice for a few short moments....

Weight: I have no idea.  If I had to guess maybe still between 20-21 pounds?  We will find out in a month!

Health: She’s still a healthy lady praise the Lord.

Sleep: We have successfully (I think?) pushed her bedtime back to 8pm!  Wahoo!  Matt loves the extra time with her after work and lately she has been sleeping until 6 (it’s amazing how that actually sounds LATE to me).  We are hoping one of these days she will sleep until 7?!  Hey hey!  Then we’d really be in business.  Until then, we’ll take 8-6.  She still naps great but I am getting a little worried about when to switch her from 2 naps to 1 nap.  She is doing so well with 2 so I know she isn’t quite ready.  Is one year the magic number?  Or did some of yall wait a little longer?

Social: This month she traveled to Atlantic Beach to be with her best bud Lawson.  She’s also had some lunch dates and pool dates with cousins and friends.  This next month she has Kindermusik every single week so I know she will enjoy that!

Diet: She’s still doing great on formula and 3 meals a day.  We have upped her finger foods, especially lately because she has a new “trick.”  She has started spitting out her pureed food!  It has been going on for a little less than a week.  Matt and I try hard not to laugh and we take her down from her high chair and redirect her.  Then we try again in 15 minutes.  Any suggestions mamas?  She loves finger foods so I am thinking maybe she is just over being fed?  But we still have to feed her some!  She can’t pick up everything!  Also – mamas – any suggestions for easy meals for babies just learning with finger foods!

one of my all time favorite pictures.  this is her face and her reaction when she gets overwhelmingly excited...

Clothes: Still in 9-12 months!

Baby Gear Love: My mother-in-law gave her some pretty awesome bath toys that she takes the to the beach, pool and of course to her bath.  She’s more and more into books these days and will now sit and “read” them silently to herself. Ha!

Crying: She’s a pretty happy baby unless she’s tired, bored or hungry!

Likes: Sissy is still a crowd favorite, as is peek-a-boo.  She also loves the refrigerator.  I have magnets with Instagram pictures all over it and she smiles, laughs and talks to them all the time.

Dislikes: Still hates the vacuum cleaner.  Other than that, she’s alright.

Postpartum:  Still feeling good, still need to start exercising!

Milestones: Still a speed crawler and still pulls-up on everything.  She is letting go more and more and getting better at balancing every single day.  She loves saying “dada” and “mama” and has started trying to say “sissy” (code name for SevillaJ).
